GSHNJ is partnering with Hofstra University to support the creation of this year’s City of Dreams Pavilion on Governors Island. This summer’s pavilion is being designed and created by innovators at New Jersey’s Grounds for Sculpture, and is to be made from aluminum — 300,000 aluminum beverage cans, to be exact.
How Can You Help? Join in this council-wide service project by collecting empty and rinsed aluminum cans. Count them, bag them, and bring them to your local service center between March 6 and April 11.
All cans must be in a clear plastic bag with a label indicating troop number and number of cans. Bags without labels will not be accepted.
Go-Getter Bonus! The troop that donates the most cans between March 6 and April 11 will win their choice of a pizza party or ice cream social! Winners will be announced and contacted on April 12.
